I do love it when this happens. The Lord already has you into the solution to a problem before it occurs. For me it was earlier this week, I was reading 2 Corinthians 1:9-10, in my devotional time.

Paul tells us of an encounter that he had in Asia. “Indeed, we felt that we had received the sentence of death. But that was to make us rely not on ourselves but on God who raises the dead. He delivered us from such a deadly peril, and He will deliver us. On Him we have set our hope that He will deliver us again.”

Then, something that I did not expect happened, something that had the power to mentally derail me, if I let it. This verse came back to mind and jumped off the page at me.

When we SET OUR HOPE (our joyful and confident expectation) that He will again deliver us [from danger and destruction and draw us to Himself. What a confident assurance we have when we set our hope in Him. To be able to stay or return to a place of peace when life suddenly seem to spins out of control is priceless.

Setting our hope is an action of Faith. By taking that step of faith or in this case, positioning our heart instead of trusting in our own strength or wits, we are forced to trust God totally. And He does it, rescues us from certain doom. And He’ll do it again, rescuing us as many times as we need rescuing.

Usually, when life hits you hard and unexpectedly you have a choice to make. You could hit back, go cry yourself to sleep, although sometimes we all need a good cry OR we could make the quality decision to NOT try to figure out the problem in our own strength. Stay in peace and give Him the time to work the situation out for us in His way. What a relief that I don’t have to have it all together or figured out. That’s our Father. He’s a good dad! I’m figuring out the more I rely Him, the more He does for me and through me. I hope this helps someone going through a tough time. Share it with someone who needs to hear it.
